Mah Jongg

Exercise with Joy
Start your day with low impact exercise! Joy Cody has set a program with our senior and beginner population in mind! Click here for details and an application.


Recreation and Parks is offering the following exercise classes for seniors at The Senior Center on Golf Club Lane.  For the next few months the classes will be free in order to for you to try each class, after which they will be offered at a nominal charge. Classes are open to all seniors ages 60 and older who are residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City.  Classes might be cancelled due to a special event or trip so please check the bulletin board at The Senior Center for updates.

Meditation with Connie at 2 pm

Yoga for all Levels with Allie at 11:15 am
Chair Dancing with Felicia at 2:30 pm

Computer Kindergarten for Seniors

Recreation and Parks will offer a series of instructional classes on Computers, iPad, iPhones, etc. Pre–registration is necessary for these programs and in some cases, space is limited.  Please see staff to register for any Computer class.  Each class is 2 hours in length and begins at 10 am in The Senior Center.

Registration is necessary.  To register for any of the programs below EXCEPT the "Chow Down", please call the Senior Center at 385-8006.​

Monday, October 23 at 1pm - Oldies Music with George Salem - in this 4th edition of music from the 50s and the early 60s, George will feature oldies- Rock and Roll and Doo Wop hits. he will also have a few songs from 2 other genres, folk and mummers. As usual, George will provide lyrics for singing along. 

Monday, October 30 at 1pm - US Represenative Kathleen Rice will come speak about the topics pertinent to our Village.

Wednesday, November 1 at noon - Speaker Sal Primeggia, professor of Sociology at Adelphi University, will speak on Religion and Superstitions in the lives of Italians and Italian-Americans.

Monday, November 6 at 11:15am - Nutrition 101 sponsored by Emblem Health. Join us to learn and discuss healthy eating habits from a trained and experienced Nutritionist, followed by a talk on Medicare with a Medicare expert.

Thursday, November 9 at 10am - Computer Class - Working with Photos on the iPAD or iPHONE.  Must have working knowledge of how your iPAD or iPHONE works for this class.  Please bring your device with you.

Thursday, November 9 at 1pm - Speaker - Historian John Ellis Kordes on the Beatles, their history and music and the events leading up to their breakup. 

Thursday, November 16 at 10am - Computer Class - Shopping Safety, and Security Online - Safely surf, shop and use the Internet without fear of identifty theft, hackers, and annoying pop up advertising in this informative class.

Friday, November 17 at 1pm - "Great American Songbook" with Linda Ipanema and the Dixie Cats.  Come join us for this musical performance of the songs you loved to sing!  Sing along with Linda as she guides us through our favorites from yesteryear. 

Wednesday, November 29 at 11:15am - Social Media for Seniors with Emblem Health.  Come to learn, discuss and ask questions about getting on and being active online followed by a talk on Medicare by a Medicare expert!
