Flag Football for 6-8 Graders
Flag Football registration for 6-8 will begin at Grove and at the Recreation and Parks Administrative Office. This program is open to children who reside in the Inc. Village of Garden City.
Games are played at Grove Park on weekday afternoons and during the day on school holidays. Schedules will be made available at the parks once the season starts. For further information, call or visit the Recreation and Parks Administrative Office (465-4075) or Grove Park to register for this free program.
When: Registration begins in September for program beginning late September. Stop by Grove Park to register.

Middle/High School Open Gym
During winter afternoon months, our Department of Recreation and Parks have designated the courts of St. Paul’s Field house open to all middle school students. The gym will be open for basketball, volleyball and other games. Recreation staff members will keep things moving and work to involve all the participants. There is no pre-registration required but participants must be residents of the Village of Garden City.
When: Winters beginning in December through mid March

Middle School Rec. Nights
The Garden City Department of Recreation and Parks is proud to sponsor 'Rec. Nights' for resident students in the middle school. These parties will be chaperoned by the Recreation Staff. Admission is $5.00, a DJ will provide music and refreshments will be available for nominal charge. The gym will be open for basketball, volleyball, dancing and other games.
NOTE: Once the children are in the field house, they will not be allowed to leave unless accompanied by an adult. Please come down to the field house to pick up your child.

Winter Swim Lessons
The Garden City Department Recreation and Parks conduct Children’s swimming lessons for Village residents at the Adelphi University Swimming Pool in Woodruff Hall on Saturday mornings during the winter. Your child must be six years of age by the start of the program to participate. Classes are taught by Red Cross Certified Instructors. The levels we offer are as follows:
Level 1 - Introduction to water skills
Level 2 - children who have taken a lesson but need to learn fundamental skills
Level 3 - will build on fundamental skills by providing guided practices
Level 4 - Develops confidence in the strokes learned and improve other aquatic skills
Level 5 - Provides further coordination and refinement of strokes.
Level 6P - Personal Water Safety - stresses survival floating, treading water, swimming in clothes, etc.
Level 6F - Water Fitness - sessions will cover learning training techniques, how to use fins, kickboards, pace clock, etc.
