Flag Football for 6-8 Graders
Flag Football registration for 6-8 will begin at Grove and at the Recreation and Parks Administrative Office. This program is open to children who reside in the Inc. Village of Garden City.
Games are played at Grove Park on weekday afternoons and during the day on school holidays. Schedules will be made available at the parks once the season starts. For further information, call or visit the Recreation and Parks Administrative Office (465-4075) or Grove Park to register for this free program.

Middle School Summer Recreation Program
This summer the Department of Recreation and Parks is beginning a new program at Community Park for middle school students. Each Wednesday night for 7 weeks will we have sports, games and fun geared to the middle schoolers. Each week we will start off with a round of Mini Golf, followed by the games of the week. Kickball, ultimate frisbee, soccer, and platform tennis are some of the games planned but will also look for input from the participants as well! Tournaments and competitions will be set up and prizes and awards will be given out at the end of the season pizza party!
When: Summer months
Middle/High School Open Gym
Where: Community Park Club House
During winter afternoon months, our Department of Recreation and Parks have designated the courts of St. Paul’s Field house open to all middle school students. The gym will be open for basketball, volleyball and other games. Recreation staff members will keep things moving and work to involve all the participants. There is no pre-registration required but participants must be residents of the Village of Garden City.
When: Tuesday and Thursdays during the Winter
3:30 - 6:00 p.m. starting December 4th

Middle School Rec. Nights
The Garden City Department of Recreation and Parks is proud to sponsor 'Rec. Nights' for resident students in the middle school. These parties will be chaperoned by the Recreation Staff. Admission is $5.00, a DJ will provide music and refreshments will be available for nominal charge. The gym will be open for basketball, volleyball, dancing and other games.
NOTE: Once the children are in the field house, they will not be allowed to leave unless accompanied by an adult. Please come down to the field house to pick up your child.

Winter Swim Lessons
The Garden City Department of Recreation and Parks will be conducting Children’s swimming lessons for Village residents at the Adelphi University Swimming Pool in Woodruff Hall on Saturday mornings. Your child must be six years of age by the start of the program to participate. Classes are taught by Red Cross Certified Instructors.
When: Saturdays in the Witner Months
Where: Adelphi University in Woodruff Hall
Level 1 – Introduction to Water Skills
Level 2 – for children who have taken a lesson but need to learn fundamental skills
Level 3 – will build on fundamental skills by providing guided practices
Level 4 – Develops confidence in the strokes learned and improve other aquatic skills
Level 5 – Provides further coordination and refinement of strokes
Level 6P – Personal Water Safety - stresses survival floating, treading water, swimming in clothes, etc.
Level 6F – Water Fitness – sessions will cover learning training techniques, how to use fins, kickboards, pace, clock, etc.
