Arbor Restoration Plan for Garden City
The Arbor Restoration Plan for Garden City has been compiled a team of graduate students from Cornell University Department of Landscape Architecture with the approval of the Chairperson of the Urban Horticulture Institute at Cornell University, Department of Horticulture. Recommendations include tree selection guides as a basis to find the right tree species and cultivar for the right size planting spaces. Special patented structural soils will be included in all planting specifications when obtained from sole source distributors. Questions pertaining to this report can be directed to the Village Department of Recreation and Parks who oversees the village tree inventory and the overall tree planting and maintenance plan.

Spring Parent and Me Sports Squirts through US Sports Institute
Garden City Recreation and Parks and US Sports Institute are working together to offer a Parent and Me Sports class in April for children ages 2 - 3. For further information please visit the US Sports Institute's website at www.ussportsinstitute.com.
Middle School Rec. Nights Announced
The Garden City Recreation Department is sponsoring Middle School Rec. Nights on the following dates at St. Paul’s Field House:
Friday, February 28 6th grade
Friday, March 7 6th and 7th grades
These parties will be chaperoned by the Recreation staff and will run from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Admission is $5.00. A DJ will provide music and refreshments will be available for a nominal charge. The gym will be open for basketball, volleyball, dancing and other games.
Note-Once the children are in our facility for either of these programs, they will not be allowed to leave unless accompanied by an adult. Please come into the building to pick up your child.

US Sports Institute has listed on their website all their spring and summer programs they are running in conjunction with Garden City Recreation and Parks. They are now offering a discount for Garden City residents on any spring or summer program offered if you register online at their website by March 1st and use the code OEB14. This code will give a 10% discount off the price of a program. Village Markers Section Introduced!
To call attention to the extensive history of Garden City, the Village has installed Historic Markers at various locations and is in the process of adding more. As part of the project, a Markers page has been established to provide more information on the subjects and links to other data sources. The markers will all be provided with QR (Quick Response) codes to allow those interested to access the Markers page directly by photographing the code with a Smartphone app. The Markers page can also be accessed now by visiting our Village Markers page.
