Summer Camps Announced!
We are happy to announce our 2014 Summer Camp schedule.  Click here to download. 


Join us April 19th at the Community Park fields for our annual Easter Egg Hunt at 10am SHARP. This year 3 hunts will be held beginning at 10AM SHARP with 3 age divisions: Preschool to K, Grades 1 and 2 and Grades 3 to 5. (don't forget your Easter Basket!)  Special eggs will be stuffed and hidden for all divisions. Each hunt will also feature a grand prize (Easter basket filled with goodies) which will go to youngster who find the special egg. For further information please call 465-4075.

Ladies Tennis League Registration Now Open
Applications for the 2014/15 Ladies Tennis League are now available.  We offer a variety of skill level leagues that take place during the week. Whether you are a current player or a new player we have a league for you. Please click here for an application or for more information.

Adult Spring Tennis Lessons Announced
We are happy to announced our spring evening tennis lessons for adult residents at the Community Park Tennis Center. Lessons will run for 1 hr. each week.  For more information or to download an application please click here.

Adult Yoga Registration
Exercise your mind and body with our yoga classes.  Classes are open to both men and women and designed with all ages in mind. Each class is one hour.  To download an application please click here.

Women's Learn and Play Platform Tennis
Register today for our six week beginner level platform tennis lessons.  Lessons begin on April 9th and will take place at the Community Park Platform Courts.  To download an application please click here.

Spring Youth Tennis Lessons
Registration for our Youth Tennis Lessons at the Community Park Tennis Center is underway. Our classes are offered to Village residents ages 4 through 11 years old. Classes will begin the week of April 21st. Please click here for an application.

Spring Roller Hockey Announced

Roller Rink Open
Our Community Park Roller Rink is now open for spring hours. During Spring Break (4/14 thru 4/19) the rink will be open Noon - Dark. The rink will be closed Easter Sunday. 
Please remember that open skate times are for residents ONLY and helmets must be worn at all times.

Arbor Restoration Plan for Garden City

The Arbor Restoration Plan for Garden City has been compiled a team of graduate students from Cornell University Department of Landscape Architecture with the approval of the Chairperson of the Urban Horticulture Institute at Cornell University, Department of Horticulture. Recommendations include tree selection guides as a basis to find the right tree species and cultivar for the right size planting spaces. Special patented structural soils will be included in all planting specifications when obtained from sole source distributors. Questions pertaining to this report can be directed to the Village Department of Recreation and Parks who oversees the village tree inventory and the overall tree planting and maintenance plan.

Spring Parent and Me / Sports Squirts through US Sports Institute
Garden City Recreation and Parks and US Sports Institute are working together to offer a Parent and Me Sports class in April for children ages 2 - 3.  For further information please visit the US Sports Institute's website at   You can also click here for an application for Parent and Me.

Garden City’s Department of Recreation and Parks is please to announce that they are again working with US Sports Institute to offer a wonderful variety of programs for ages 3 to 13 this spring and summer.  All programs are now available on the US Sports Institute’s website at  Read below for all of Recreation and Parks Spring offerings!

Spring Sports Squirts Offerings
Our Recreation and Parks Department has worked with US Sports Institute to offer a set of favorite and new spring programs for ages 3 to 7.  Each eight week session will introduce the sports chosen to the participants in a self structured, fun setting.  Registration has started and classes will begin the week of April 21.  To see a list of classes or to get a registration form please visit the Recreation Office at 108 Rockaway Avenue.  Please click here for an application.

Multi Sport Camp for ages 5 - 12 during Spring Break
We will offer US Sports Institute's Total Play Multi Sport Camps during the Spring Break.  This camp will be held at St. Paul's April 14- 17 ( Monday - Thursday).  Your child can attend a half day or full day session. Village Markers Section Introduced!
To call attention to the extensive history of Garden City, the Village has installed Historic Markers at various locations and is in the process of adding more.  As part of the project, a Markers page has been established to provide more information on the subjects and links to other data sources.  The markers will all be provided with QR (Quick Response) codes to allow those interested to access the Markers page directly by photographing the code with a Smartphone app. The Markers page can also be accessed now by visiting our Village Markers page.




The Department of Recreation and Parks have been busy planning a variety of activities for our residents to enjoy during the upcoming months.  We hope you will join in with the many other residents of Garden City who take part in the programs and activities we provide.  We realize the amount of options to choose from, we worked extra hard to make our programs worthy of both your time and participation.
